At Stewart Painting, a job can become the beginning of a long-term career. We are always looking for dependable, motivated people who take pride in their work, value teamwork, and want opportunities to develop their skills.
Whether you are entering the trade for the first time or bringing years of professional experience, Stewart Painting provides the training, support, and growth opportunities needed to succeed. Join a respected local company where hard work is recognized, and employees have a clear path forward.
Stewart Painting believes employees should be able to see where their careers can take them. Our learning pathway provides opportunities to progress from an entry-level apprentice to an experienced painter, craftsman, job leader, and crew leader.
Employees can build practical skills in jobsite preparation, painting techniques, safety, product knowledge, repairs, quality control, customer service, job management, and team leadership. As their knowledge and responsibilities grow, team members can advance into positions that involve managing projects, communicating with customers, leading employees, and helping others develop their careers.
The Stewart Painting learning pathway includes the following stages:
Apprentices begin by learning essential jobsite practices, including setup, cleanup, safety, priming, caulking, brushing, and rolling. As they gain experience, they develop additional knowledge of products, interior and exterior applications, doors, windows, and minor repairs.
Painters continue developing more advanced trade skills, including basic patching and spackling, fall protection, high-reach work, quality control, specialized surface preparation, and production expectations. These levels allow employees to strengthen both the quality and efficiency of their work.
The craftsman level reflects a strong command of painting techniques, preparation, repairs, product use, safety, and quality standards. Craftsmen are trusted to deliver consistent results across a range of projects while supporting the performance of the wider team.
Job leaders take on greater responsibility for job management, customer communication, accountability, technology use, and supervision of teams of up to five people. This role combines technical experience with organization and leadership.
Crew leaders oversee multiple crews and may help manage teams of up to 20 employees. Their responsibilities can include leading crew meetings, reviewing performance plans, writing annual objectives, supporting on-the-job training, and helping employees progress through their own learning pathways.
